For My Husband!!!

HA HA HA! Wait...What?!

You know, not many people can make me think how lucky I really am for what I have. It's funny how we all get caught up in the Jones' and forget that we have all exceeded the basic necessity to live. Even people on welfare have at least one color TV to say the least. I think Sheryl Crow said it best in her song "soak Up The Sun" when she said "I don't have digital, I don't have diddly squat, It's not having what you want, It's wanting what you've got ." This guy made me laugh, but inside he calmed the beast.

You Know You've Watched too Much Trueblood When.....

Another blog posts your words :)

I wrote the first three "You Know You've watched too much True Blood when..."

Fangtasia!

My husband took me out to Alex's bar for Valentines day, and that seemingly small and out of character move has climbed the the charts of the "Top 10 Most Memorably Jon Moves".
Some of the others were:

1. Deterring my attention, while tearing off the head of a lobster with a napkin and giving it to the waiter. The stupid thing was looking at me!

2. Hanging around when the door man at Serendipity III said it would be a three hour wait to get in.

3. Taking me to the Queen Mary for the Haunted House festival.

4. Cleaned my bathroom once.

5. Swimming back an forth 3-4 times to give Kelsie the courage to surf.

Not in that order :)

This bar was a blast. He was a little worried about the location and made sure we had a cab there and a cab back. The people were really nice! We parked our butts at a little table plastered in Ramones paraphernalia, and just laughed and drank.
After a couple drinks I worked up enough courage to take pictures. Unfortunately Jon forgot the camera so my phone would just have to do. I took pictures of the art in the girls bathroom, good thing no one came in! Oh never mind me, I collect bathroom portraits! Its a thing for me :)
These two were in the stall....Kinda hard to pee when a Vampire is looking at you!

The door guy was this scary looking guy, balled with a long beard just on his chin. I don't think there was a part of his face with out a piercing of some sort. He was playing the "Mr. Tuff Guy" role, but when we were getting ready to leave, I asked him to suggest a few good placed to eat that were still open and he became Mr. Chatty Kathy!

While I was waiting for our cab, the bouncer was talking to me. Nice guy! He asked if I had ever heard of the "HBO show TrueBlood"...."Ya know I think I came across it once or twice..." HA!!! Hello! Reason for being there!!!! We chatted a while, he said they were filming last month there, and he hadn't met any of the actors but Cedric Yarbrough who plays Deputy Jones on Reno 911 was there the week before. I noticed they were set to be closed the following Monday-Wednesday, but I know he would tell me if they were filming or not.

It was a great night!!!! I think Jon had fun too!

Oh Lord!!!

I'm Going To FANGTASIA!!!!!

I really don't know what part I am more excited for...the Boat or the fact I get to go to Fantasia!! Well, Alex's Bar to be exact. The bar they film Fantasia is actually in Long Beach, where the Boat is in port. Talking Jon into it was a little harder than I thought. I still think he is unsure what he has gotten in to.

Me: So, check it! The bar they filmed Fantasia in a Punk bar in Long Beach!
Jon: Okay
Me: Well our boat is docked in Long Beach
Jon: Okay
Me: How about we either stay late or go early and we can go to it?
Jon: Thought you wanted to do the Haunted Queen Mary?
Me: That too...
Jon: So you want to go and spend a couple hundred bucks on a hotel so you can go to hole in the wall Punk bar?
Me:Yea!
Jon: *Silence*
Me: HEY! I went to the "Badda Bing" with you! That was a strip club!
Jon: That's different...we watched the Soprano's for 10 years!
Me: *Pout* oh okay
Jon: We can check it out, But if it is sketchy we are not going in!
Me: Yes we are! That's what you are for...Protection!

I love how Dallas put it "Yes it's a little rougher of a bar later into the night as Bill would say " it get's more authentic" :)" Oh yea!!! The princess is going to a Punk Bar!!!! The real question is "What kind of shoes do you wear?"

Another Great Song!

I have been finding new music in the strangest of places....the TrueBlood fan sights. The first one I found was on a video I found On "William T Compton's" Facebook page, "Love Letter" from Blaqk Audio. Kelsie took the entire CD and now its her favorite band and has many of her friends hooked as well.

Next I found "Closer" by The Kings of Leon on the "Trueblood" fan page on Facebook. Great band!!!! I actually have heard them before, one of my salesman turned me on to them. "Closer" is on their newest album and I really love it.

Now, here is the latest one. "Song for the Girl" by The Mathew Good Band I found On "Lovingtruebloodindalls". Its a great song! I need to check some of their other songs later today, but listen to it...tell me what you think.

Mexico!

As I type this entry, I really am trying to maintain my enthusiasm about the next week. For Christmas "Santa" gave Jon and I a 5 day cruise on Carnival Cruise Lines to Catalina and Ensenada Mexico.

We are going with my Hula family and I am sooo excited! You would think that 5 day cruise means hang out, relax, drink and enjoy. The one fall back of going with your Kumu, especially a Kumu that always has both hands and feet doing 4 different things at one time, means that we probably WILL perform and WILL do workshops on the boat. Drinking however WILL also be part of it. This family can work hard and play even harder. We just night need a vacation after our vacation just to recoup!

Apparently there will be a "Break-Off" on the Ledo deck. I made the mistake of telling Kuulei that Jon used to break dance. Well, so did Kumu and Kuulei....so there you have it! Jon, kumu and Kuulei will be the entertainment on the boat.

When I attempted to plead my case to Kumu, his response was "no worries - I'll bust out a flip a flare and a head spin and dust em both"

God have mercy on our souls!!!!

Jon's Drum Recital!

This morning Jon had his 2nd drum recital since he started playing again. The poor guy had to change his time just so I could go because of school. He was originally placed to play with more drummers of his skill level, but had to be with ones that were a little....well...younhger then he was. We all had to laugh when his teacher thanked all the parents for letting their children take lessons, to which Jon replied "Yea,thanks Mom!" to me, and I replied "You're welcome Hunny!"

This year Mike (his instructor) decided to add lights to give the feel of being in "concert". You know Jon wants them in the studio now! Geek!

The song Jon chose to do is called "The Sound of Muzak" by Porcupine Tree. The really challenging part of this song is that it is odd time. Normal drumming is the beat of the song and there for the beat to which we dance to. This one is odd time, which makes it difficult to play and almost impossible to dance to. I will post the song as well as his performance so you can see how hard it really is and appreciate how well he really did! Good job Boy!!!!!

This Was Really Not a Good Idea!

Another thing I felt I needed for this cruise was a new bathing suit. Mine is about 2 years old and I could use a change.
Forgetting that shopping in the winter for a new bathing suit would be nothing more than a psychological equivalent to an earthquake!!! I looked on line and ordered one from Dillard's. While I was shopping with Jon on Super Bowl Sunday (yea, I didn't get it either, and it as his idea) they had the suit at Nordstrom so I tried it on. *tremor tremor QUAKE*
For hell sakes!!! Really!!! These are not fun house mirrors???!!! WTF!
It just makes you want to go on a killing rampage on the set of photo shoots! Just put normal sized women in them so we can see what WE will look like...or give multiple shots of it..."Eat something for hell sakes" (or standard model 0-7), Normal size women (8-10), "It might look okay if you drop 10 lbs" (10-12) and "You really should look into a one piece" size 13 plus.
So its back in the box, and going back. You can get a sun tan in a sweater and jeans right?!

I am Soooo Good!!!!

With the Mexico Cruise approaching rapidly, I was thinking I need a new dress for the Captains Dinner. Usually every year Jon lets me buy a new formal dress for the Champagne Party, but since we didn't go this year, I only had years past dresses as options. Normally this would have been the only option at this point, seeing how the economy is these days.

There was this one Maggy London dress I fell in love with at Nordstrom in December, but seeing how it was $178 and I didn't have anywhere to wear it, I couldn't justify that kind of funds just on a whim. I did however keep an eye on it from time to time, see if maybe it would go on sale or something...but Nooooooooo, Never....Sale Bad!!!!!

Well the Gods must have felt really bad for me, because I found the exact dress at Belk's, for $47.00...oh yea...you heard me.....FORTY SEVEN DOLLARS!!!! The obserd part of all this is Nordstrom still has it for $178! Bastards! So it came in the mail today and I am sooo excited! Not only did I get the dress but for 25% of the original cost! Who said I don't bargain shop!

Louisiana Crawfish Boil!! MMMMMM!

You know...you gotta love a recipe that tells you to drink beer during cooking!!!!! I so want to make this, I love the steam pot that have at Joe's Crab Shack!!

Ingredients
30 pounds live crawfish (one sack)
2 cups salt for purging
4 pkgs of crawfish or crab or shrimp boil seasoning
20 small onions, peeled
Smoked sausage, cut up into large pieces, we use andouille or you can use smoky hollow cajun style sausage
Whole mushrooms
10 pounds small red potatoes, unpeeled
15 ears of fresh corn on the cob, shucked and broken in halves or just buy frozen ears of corn on the cob
Whole mushrooms
4 lemons
bay leaves (optional)
4 garlic pods (optional)
louisiana hot sauce (optional) BUT A MUST FOR US!
CASE OF BEER

Directions
IF YOU HAVE NOT ALREADY DONE SO, DRINK A BEER!
Purging the Crawfish: The cardinal rule is to purge and thoroughly wash the crawfish before boiling them. Placing them in a plastic children's pool, large tub, or a large ice chest - rinse them in enough changes of water for the water to run reasonably clear. Then add more water to cover the crawfish and add 2 cups of salt. This forces them to purge themselves of impurities. Stir for 3 minutes, then rinse crawfish. After purging and cleaning, don’t leave the crawfish covered with water, as they need air to stay alive. Keep the crawfish in a cool or shaded area until you’re ready to start cooking. NOTE: Be careful not to let them purge too long. You do not want them to be dead when you add them to the boil.

DRINK ANOTHER BEER!

In a large (18- to 20-gallon) pot over high heat, add enough water to fill a little more than halfway. Add crawfish or crab boil seasoning. Cover pot and bring water to a boil; boil 2 to 3 minutes to allow the spices to mix well.

DRINK ANOTHER BEER!

Using a large wire basket that fits into the pot, add onions, sausage, mushrooms, lemons, mushrooms, bay leaves, corn and potatoes. Maintain a boil and cook 10 minutes or until potatoes are tender. Add crawfish to the wire basket, stirring them a bit; cook an additional 4 to 5 minutes (being careful not to overcook the crawfish). Remove wire basket from pot.

DRINK ANOTHER BEER!

To serve the traditional way, cover a table (preferably outdoors) with thick layers of newspaper. Spill the contents of the basket (onions, potatoes, sausage, mushrooms, and crawfish) along the length of the newspaper-covered table. They are best served hot.

DRINK MORE BEER!

How To Eat Crawfish:
Crawfish are eaten with your hands (don't ask for utensils; you will only be laughed at). Don't be intimidated by that big pile of cooked crawfish.
With one hand, grasp the crawfish head. Grasp the tail with your other hand. Gently squeeze the tail end of the body close to where it joins the head. Hold the head steady and gently twist the tail end, still applying pressure. The meaty end will twist out of the head.
Put the head aside for the moment. Slide a finger or thumb under the first few segments at the top of the tail and peel away the top partially expose part of the tail. With the shell still partially intact, bring the tail meat to your mouth and sink your teeth into the exposed meat. Chomp down on it, and it will pop into your mouth as you leave the tail behind.
The part that shows if you are a true Cajun or not is if you eat the head. Take the head and suck the hot, spicy juices out of it.
